Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
This policy explains what data Sumiza ("we", "us") collects when you use sumiza.app (the "Service"), and how we use it. It applies to all users of the Service.
1. Who we are
Sumiza operates sumiza.app. For any privacy question, contact privacy@sumiza.app.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: the email address and password you register with (passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text).
- Usage data: the video URLs you submit for summarization, the summaries generated for you, and basic usage counts used to enforce plan quotas.
- Billing data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider Paddle collects and processes your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number. We keep a reference to your Paddle customer and subscription IDs.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request paths) kept for security and debugging.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the Service — process the videos you submit and return a summary.
- To operate your account — authentication, password resets, email verification.
- To enforce plan limits and process payments.
- To send you service-related email (verification, password reset, billing receipts). We do not send marketing email without separate consent.
4. Third parties we use
Processing a video may involve sending the video URL, its audio, or its transcript to the following subprocessors, solely to generate your summary:
- Groq — audio transcription (Whisper).
- Google (Gemini API) — summary generation from transcript text.
- Supadata — subtitle/transcript lookup.
- Paddle — payment processing and billing (acts as merchant of record).
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
We do not sell your data to anyone.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Generated summaries are cached and may be reused if another user submits the same public video — the summary text itself is not personal data. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact privacy@sumiza.app to exercise these rights.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
